Tivannagh L'Abbé

Tivannagh L'Abbé has been actively involved in all aspects of music from a young age. She has studied and worked in New York, London, and Vancouver. She holds an ALCM, LLCM, and ARCT in piano performance, a BA in French and Music, and an MSc (with distinction) in Music Composition and Technology. Tivannagh is a current member of SOCAN and ORMTA.

Since beginning her formal training at age 3, Tivannagh has had extensive education and experience in several music disciplines. She plays more than 10 instruments and has performed a wide range of live events as an accompanist, soloist, duo, and ensemble musician, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ. She has given countless performances in venues such as hotels, restaurants, lounges, clubs, theatres, concert halls, and even boat cruises.

In addition to performing, Tivannagh is a dedicated music educator. She enrolled her first student at age 14 and has been teaching ever since. She specializes in the private instruction of piano, theory, composition, guitar, and music technology (production, remixing, recording, editing, DJing). She has also organized and run successful concert band programs in elementary schools.

On the creative front, Tivannagh’s music has been heard in corporate advertising campaigns (Illuminate Yaletown, BC Hydro, Vancouver Olympics), as well as event promotion (club nights, themed events, private functions). Other projects include original electronic compositions and remixes released on Canadian labels, Deaf Chemist and Kete:Records. Other commissions appear on award-winning albums released by Gabriel Prokofiev’s Nonclassical label in the UK. Many of Tivannagh’s original productions, collaborations, and remixes have also received airplay on independent and mainstream radio stations internationally.

Tivannagh’s work has been praised by a wide range of artists, perhaps most notably by Alicia Keys, who described Tivannagh as having "an exceptional gift".

Tivannagh continues to share her passion for all things music-related through private lessons, creative commissions, and live performance.
